Carolina mother Antoinette Nicole Davis was charged with selling her five-year old daughter Shaniya Davis, as a sex slave.  She reported her “missing.” Surveillance video saw 29 year old Mario McNeil carrying five year old into a hotel. He has been charged with first degree kidnapping. Sadly police later identified her body. In this case Shaniya was sold. In other cases the child runs away or is abducted or abused by a friend or family member. It all ends the same way–with a child in the hands of a pimp.

There must be a multi-tiered approach to ending sexual crimes against children.  First of all the perpetrators must be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Point blank-period. The law is for the lawless. Secondly we have to raise awareness among our daughters, our sons, our churches and our communities. We can no longer be so quick to judge the little “fast” girl you see at the church picnic. Perhaps she’s crying out for your help.  We also must deal with the pedophiles contemplating sex with minors-yes contemplating. As much as it may sicken you to feel anything for these men, the shame associated with these feelings drives the men to secrecy. The struggles they hide in the dark will eventually manifest. If we offered men who have yet to actually commit a physical crime against a child a safe place to get help and a system of accountability—could we decrease the number of offenses? It’s something to think about. A man who is contemplating suicide has a hotline he can call. Heck-he may even be placed on suicide watch. My feeling is this–if you have the presence of mind to know that you’re fantasies are sick you have the presence of mind to get help and if you know someone who is suspect–sound the alarm. There are cruel and unusual people. Evil does exist but deliverance and ACCOUNTABILITY has to be presented as an option. Churches must step up to the plate in this area in a MAJOR way. Sexual addiction and perversions have to be discussed and worked through. Preaching “against sin” apparently is not enough and sadly pastors’ studies have served as crime scenes for far too long.

BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION – END EXPLOITATION

No you may not ever physically rescue a child sex slave but you can help the people that are helping. God’s love takes action on our part. When we do nothing five year olds are sold into slavery by their mothers. A culture of Kings must not stand idly by. This is our world and these are our children. Dominion has been given to us. If God told Adam and Eve to rule over fish of the sea then we are more than capable of protecting our children. We must find a way. Little girls are running away from home sometimes as young as 9 trying to escape the conditions going on at home. 1. Give. Find an organization that supports the protection of these children. You don’t have to give every month. 3. Raise Awareness. Hold an event in your community t could be a bible study, book club or a get together with friends.

4. Mentor. Perhaps the relationship you build with a teen in need will change his/her life. It truly does take a village.
