A dear friend of mine never puts his seat belt on when getting in the car. And even though his car chimes uncontrollably as a “friendly reminder” he ignores it. I don’t know why. Habit. Sense of invincibility? Naturally this irritates me, after all I need him to be responsible for my sake as much as his. Sadly a close friend of his passed away recently. She wasn’t wearing her seat belt.
Sometimes obedience is not about us. Its simply about being accountable to the ones we love. God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit. They are our “friendly reminder” to do or not to do certain things. Sometimes we hear God’s voice directly. Sometimes He speaks through a friend or total stranger. Each time we have a choice-to heed or not. Sometimes its a huge inconvenience. It rubs us the wrong way and is murder on our emotions, personal bents, or ego. This following “Embrace Life” advertisement about the importance of buckling up is not only one of the most creative commercials I’ve ever seen. Its one of the most impactful.
This is powerful. Check it out.
